Mindset + Mastery is committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all clients and operates in line with ethical and trauma-informed practice.

1. Policy Statement

Mindset + Mastery Ltd is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all women who engage with our coaching programmes. We recognise that our clients may be navigating significant vulnerability as a result of trauma histories, chronic health conditions, or both, and we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously.

This policy applies to all coaches, directors, associates, and anyone working on behalf of Mindset + Mastery Ltd.

2. Scope

Mindset + Mastery works exclusively with adult women. Our clients may be adults at risk as defined under the Care Act 2014. We do not work directly with children, though we recognise the intersection between adult and child safeguarding where clients are parents.

Our services are not suitable for anyone currently in acute clinical crisis. We maintain clear referral pathways for clients who require clinical support beyond the scope of coaching.

3. Designated Safeguarding Lead

Victoria Taylor, Co-Founder and Programme Director

In Victoria's absence, safeguarding matters should be directed to Stephanie Brown MSc, Co-Founder and Programme Director, at the same contact details.

4. Our Commitments

  • Creating a safe, trauma-informed environment for all clients
  • Treating all clients with dignity, respect, and care
  • Ensuring all practitioners hold appropriate safeguarding qualifications (Diploma in Safeguarding Adults and Children, Levels 1 to 4)
  • Taking all safeguarding concerns seriously and responding promptly
  • Referring to statutory services where there is risk of harm
  • Maintaining appropriate confidentiality while understanding its limits
  • Supporting clients who disclose abuse or risk in a non-judgmental, trauma-informed manner

5. Recognising and Responding to Concerns

If a client discloses abuse, expresses risk of harm to themselves or others, or a concern arises during coaching, the practitioner will:

  • Listen carefully without interrupting or asking leading questions
  • Reassure the client without making promises about confidentiality that cannot be kept
  • Record what has been said accurately and promptly
  • Report to the Designated Safeguarding Lead without delay

The DSL will determine the appropriate response, which may include supporting the client to access services, referral to Adult Social Care, or contacting the police where there is immediate risk to life.

Emergency

If there is an immediate risk to life, call 999. Do not wait to consult the DSL.

6. Confidentiality and Its Limits

Coaching conversations are held in confidence. However, confidentiality may be broken where there is risk of serious harm to the client or others, where a criminal offence has occurred or may occur, where a child is at risk, or where required by law. Where information is shared, it will be on a need-to-know basis and fully documented.

7. Referral Pathways

Where a client requires support beyond the scope of coaching, we maintain the following referral contacts:

Emergency Support Contacts

  • Emergency services: 999
  • Non-emergency police: 101
  • Samaritans (24hrs, free): 116 123
  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline (24hrs, free): 0808 2000 247
  • MIND: 0300 123 3393  ·  www.mind.org.uk
  • GP or local mental health services (client to provide their own details)

8. Safer Recruitment and Training

All practitioners hold an enhanced DBS check, Diploma in Safeguarding Adults and Children (Levels 1 to 4), and complete safeguarding refresher training at least every three years. Records are maintained by the DSL.

9. Record Keeping and Review

All safeguarding concerns and actions are recorded in writing, stored securely, and retained for a minimum of seven years. This policy is reviewed annually by the DSL.
